October 15, 2008, Research Area I: Photonic Materials & Devices
The students of Research Area I emphasized with presentations on
- Nanoscribe - a technology driven start-up
- Photovoltaics - political setting, current challenges and future outlooks
- Methods for simulating Maxwell's equations
very successfully a broad variety of topics within their field of research. The active discussions within the scope of the seminar were continued in the subsequent get-together at the International Department.
June 11, 2008, Research Area III: Biomedical Photonics and Research Area IV: Optical Systems
The program of the first KSOP Ph.D. seminar was set up by the students of Research Area III and IV. Especially the format of shared presentations to one common topic was highly appreciated.
The following presentations were given:
- Information Displays: An overview of Technologies, Modern Applications and Market Trends
- Quantom Dots: Synthesis and Application in Neurobiological Research
- Feature Selection for Image Processing
- Classification of Weather Situations on Single Color Images
Within the scope of the subsequent KSOP Summer Party including a barbecue in the courtyard of the International Department, KSOP Ph.D. students, master students, mentors and professors had the opportunity to share their knowlegde and experience in a very relaxed atmosphere.
