Guidelines for Ph.D. Applicants

Step 1 - Inform yourself on the KSOP Research Areas (RA)

In order to appply for the Ph.D. Program in Optics & Photonics, you need to know in which Research Area you would like to work. You can only apply, if your M.Sc. or Diploma degree and your research interests correspond to one of these areas.

Step 2 - Inform yourself on open positions

Each research area combines several institutes of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Please check out the project descriptions and the corresponding links for:

RA I: Photonic Materials & Devices

RA II: Advanced Spectroscopy

RA III: Biomedical Photonics

RA IV: Optical Systems

If there are open positions that correspond to your interests, you can apply for the Ph.D. Program in Optics & Photonics. If you cannot find any openings in your field, it makes only sense to apply if you can proof outstanding study results.

 

Step 3 - KSOP Application Form

Please fill out the KSOP Application Form. You can indicate in the application form whether you want to apply for a scholarship or not. Please enclose the following documents to your application:

- CV

- Ph.D. project description: 1 page

- Academic certificates/ transcripts (BSc./ MSc./ Diplom…)

- High School leaving certificate (certified copies)

- Statement of purpose why applying for KSOP and scholarship

- 1 better 2 reference letters
