Time-Domain Simulations of Metallic Structures

Plasmon-polaritions, hybrid oscillations of electrons in metals and electromagnetic waves, currently receive wide interest in the nano-photonic research community. To support the development process of new plasmonic devices I am working on higher-order accurate simulation tools in the time-domain. In particular, Krylov-subspace techniques are combined with discontinuous Galerkin methods on adaptive grids to allow an excellent spatial and temporal resolution of surface plasmon-polaritons.
